Delhi University

Delhi University or the University of Delhi is popularly known as ‘DU’ by Students. It is Central University situated in Delhi that is also known as one of the most prestigious universities in Asia. It was established in 1922 and offers under-graduate and post graduate level courses in all streams and disciplines. It is also ranked as the top University in India and the Vice-President of India is the Chancellor of DU.

Indira Gandhi National Open University

Indira Gandhi National Open University or IGNOU is a National Open University that houses its headquarters in New Delhi. It was named after the country’s famous Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. The construction budget was of Rs.2,000 crores and it was established in 1985 after the Parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985. Today, IGNOU is known as one of the most  prestigious and genuine Open University in India that offers correspondence as well as regular courses in under-graduate & post graduate levels.

IP University

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, also known as ‘IP’, is a State University in Delhi that was established in 1998 by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi under the provisions of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha Vishwavidyalaya Act. The main purpose was  to ease the burden of the already established ‘Delhi University’ or ‘DU’ and has emerged as one of the best pioneers of education in the country. This University was established with separate departments for individual disciplines such as Business Management, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Technology.

Jamia Hamdard University

Jamia Hamdard University is another renowned University located in Delhi which was established in 1989. It was found by the revered Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb who was a true Gandhian in spirit and very simple in temperament. He was born on 14th September 1908 in Delhi and was instrumental in influencing the establishment of the University. His father, Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed also contributed immensely to the concept of establishing a University that could impart and carry forward the principles, the knowledge and the methodology of the Unani Medicine. He improved the ancient system of the Unani medicine and its therapeutics. He named the University as ‘Hamdard’ because he wanted public to benefit from efficacy of Unani Medicine and hence share knowledge and encourage interest in this field of Medicine.

Jamia Millia Islamia University

Jamia Millia Islamia University is a Central University which has its own campus located in South Delhi. It was originally established in 1920 at Aligarh, which was a former United Province of India during the British Raj. In 1988, it was accorded as an Indian Central University according to the act of the Parliament of India. ‘Jamia’ and ‘Millia’ are Urdu or Arabic words which mean ‘University’ and ‘National’ respectively. This University was established by the Nationalist Muslims, but it is secular in its character and approach to education and standards. This University offers courses at School, Under-graduate and Post graduate levels and does not have any colleges affiliated to it.

Jawaharlal Nehru University

Jawaharlal Nehru UniversityEstablished in 1969, it offers languages different kind of languages like French, German, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Persian and Arabic. National Law University

National Law University is a State Law University located in Delhi which was established by the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi under the provisions of the National Law University Act of 2007 and Act 1 of 2008. It is a premier Law University. This Law University was set up with the main objective to create a premier ‘Global Legal Law Institute’ that could compete with best Law Colleges and Universities across the Country and the Globe. It focuses on imparting knowledge on the varied aspects of law to students and also to expose them to a wide range of opportunities in the field of Law and legal profession across India and Abroad. It features a state of art infrastructure equipped with all the facilities for training, learning and research work in the field of Law and allied disciplines.
